Seahawks Announce the Week One CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week

David Emanuels of Mercer Island High School is the week one CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week.

SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL), Q13 FOX (KCPQ), and Sports Authority announced today David Emanuels of Mercer Island High School as the week one CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. David will be at CenturyLink Field during the September 21game against the Denver Broncos.

David, a senior at Mercer Island High School, was selected to be the Athlete of the Week based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. David has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and is enrolled in four advanced placement classes, one honors course, and robotics. He has been an active member of Volunteers Outreach in Communities Everywhere (VOICE), volunteering for many organizations including the Special Olympics and Boys and Girls Club. He also spent his summer volunteering two days a week at the UW Medical Center. Athletically, David is a multi-sport athlete and was selected as captain both his junior and senior football seasons. He was selected as the Team Defensive Player of the Year along with second team all-league honors in the KingCo conference during his junior year.

As the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week, the student-athlete will also be recognized at their school in front of their family, peers and teachers. They will also receive a $1,200 grant supported by Sports Authority from CenturyLink and the Seahawks for their school's ASB fund, in addition to media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, and a customized 2014 Nike Seahawks jersey.
